  • Microsoft Surface Pro 4 event live stream: how to watch it online
  • 6/10/2015

Are you ready to finally see how Microsoft has improved its best tablet yet? The Redmond, Wash.-based tech firm is set to show off its Surface Pro 4 tomorrow in New York City, along with its leaked-to-all-hell Lumia phones and possibly a sequel to the Microsoft Band.

Rumors are swirling that we'll see some Xbox One and HoloLens related announcements, but we're hedging our bets on those. And, of course, we expect to hear when Windows 10 Mobile will launch – for real this time.

Now, how can you watch it all unfold alongside the techradar crew? I thought you'd never ask.

The answer is simple

Microsoft wants as many humans as physics will allow to see this event go off, so it's live streaming the whole thing right from its website. To watch along, just head to this URL, provided below in plain sight:

http://www.microsoft.com/october2015event/

Now, wasn't that easy? However, Microsoft hasn't been clear as to which format the event will be live streamed in, so it would be safe to ensure that your version of Microsoft's Silverlight player is up to date. You can find updates for that here.

In the event that Microsoft chooses YouTube for its live stream platform, then you're just fine. Because YouTube works through HTML5, no updating is needed on your end to access its videos.

Finally, Microsoft could very well make the (terribly poor) decision to stream through a platform like Ustream or Livestream, which use Adobe Flash. In that case, you can update your Flash Player plug-in right here. (Google Chrome users: just update your browser and you're good to go.)

Until the event starts tomorrow at 10am EDT (7am PDT, 3pm BST, 1am AEDT 10/7), keep it locked on techradar for updates leading up to, during and following Microsoft's biggest event of the year.

  • Netflix And Lego To Release Kids Shows
  • 2/10/2015

Netflix has teamed up with Marvel to create shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, so they are open to working with other brands to deliver great content. Now the company has announced that it's teaming up with Lego to create two new shows for kids. Both will be released next year.

The two shows are titled Lego Bionicle: The Journey to One and Lego Friends: The Power of Friendship. Both will be available for on-demand streaming on Netflix in the first half of 2016.

Kids are going to love these shows, but those are not the only kids shows Netflix has in the pipeline. This is part of a larger announcement involving a total of seven original series for children. These will arrive on Netflix between 2016 and 2017. More content for kids is needed on Netflix so this is a great move. Especially when you consider that Netflix has 30 million subscribers who regularly watch children’s programming.

The two Lego shows will only debut with four episodes but more content will likely be released soon after. Netflix continues to build up its original programming and it continues to do a good job. Now it's time for kids to have more good new content.

Desktop users shouldn't be embarrassed about their PC of choice. Eighty-four percent of small businesses would consider buying desktops for their organizations, according to IDC.

Survey respondents cited longer average lifetime value and lower cost of ownership for reasons why they'd be more likely to buy a desktop than a laptop or a mini PC.

Only 43% of respondents said they would consider a small form factor device, like a laptop, for their organizations, and 35% said they would be willing to purchase a mini PC – the computers typically used to operate digital signage or Internet kiosks.

  • Goodbye to telly tubby land
  • 8/4/2015

On april the 8th 2014 Microsoft in it's wisdom ended support for windows XP, this will cause all sorts of trouble with software applications and it will also no longer be safe without anymore security updates.

I guess was a desperate attempt by Microsoft to make everybody upgrade to the not so popular for some people Windows 8.

Trouble for some people unfortunately will be that the PCs they have will no longer be powerful enough or compatible to run Windows 8, which for some people is bad news as not only do they have to upgrade the software but also the hardware as well, and that doesn't come cheap.

There are other alternatives of operation systems available, and Linux is the best by far, linux does many free operation systems but Linux Ubuntu is the most popular of them all, A very powerful operation system that can be downloaded absolutely free as it is open source software, and also free from the Linux is another popular Version called Zorin OS which is just like Windows XP.

With Linux Ubuntu you can browse the web, set up your e-mails, even still open Microsoft documents and much much more.

It really is A great alternative to windows XP and will run on most older PCs, so don't chuck a perfectly good machine away and create more landfill check out the Linux website, here is a link to Linux Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/features

All other Linux operation systems can easily be found including Zorin by simply googling it.
